About the job:
As the Designer you will play a vital role within the design team for my well established client, reporting in to the Head of Design. This role is hands on and across the entire design process from concept to final product, and will include trend research, storyboarding, sketching to cad development, fabric selections and fit sessions. You’ll work closely with the wider team and ensure each design is beautifully executed, fit for purpose and aligned with the brands aesthetic.
About you:
You are a designer with a sharp eye and deep understanding of fabric, fit and form. You will have strong experience in fabric sourcing and print development with the ability to create elevated, original pieces that feel timeless and fresh. You instinctively understand how to work within a brands DNA – balancing heritage with thoughtful, modern evolution. You must be detail-oriented, technically confident and love collaborating with patternmakers and product developers to get the finish just right.

RESPONSIBILITIES +
- Assisting in the development of garments and accessories that align with seasonal briefs, brand DNA, and margin targets
- Creating and maintaining CADs, range plans, and coloured sketches in Adobe Illustrator
- Conducting trend research and sketching new shape ideas
- Developing storyboards and mood concepts to support design direction
- Participating in fit sessions and communicating technical feedback to patternmakers and relevant teams to ensure a consistent and perfected fit
- Collaborating with patternmakers and product developers to resolve any quality or construction issues
- Selecting fabrics and prints, with a deep understanding of their properties – weight, drape, and suitability for each silhouette
- Preparing clear and accurate tech packs, print artworks, and documentation for suppliers
- Managing workflow from concept through to final production, ensuring timelines are met across each stage
- Working cross-functionally with Production, Pattern Room, Garment Techs and Developers
- Supporting the broader team with overflow work and helping ensure a smooth process across all product categories
- Assisting in campaign shoots and liaising with stylists and photographers as required
- Participating in key weekly meetings, including Production and Design sessions, to stay aligned on timelines and sample development
- Providing leadership and support to assistants in the design and pattern rooms, ensuring effective communication and onboarding
- Supporting the Creative Director with ad hoc projects as needed
REQUIREMENTS +
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a premium or luxury womenswear brand
- Proven understanding of fabric properties, block development, and garment construction
- Strong technical skills in Adobe Illustrator and range development
- Experience managing products from initial design through to final production
- Ability to clearly brief patternmakers and work collaboratively on silhouette and shape refinement
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of the full product development lifecycle, including sampling, fitting, and final execution
