Confidence that looks like competence

If you want to be seen as “solid” at work, borrow these repeatable systems.

2-Minute Meeting Prep (Looks Senior Fast)

Before any meeting, write:

Goal (1 line): ____
Decision needed: ____
My recommendation: ____
Risk / trade-off: ____

You’re not “attending.” You’re contributing.

“No Panic” Script (When You Don’t Know)

What to say when you don’t know (without looking unsure)

“I don’t have that answer yet. Here’s what I know so far: ____
Next step I’ll take: ____
I’ll come back with options by: ____”

Calm structure reads as confidence.

The “Own a Lane” Play

Pick ONE lane for the next 30 days:

  • Fix a recurring problem

  • Own a report / tracker

  • Become the “go-to” for one process

  • Improve a handover that’s always messy

Then tell your manager:

“I’m going to own [lane] this month and share improvements weekly.”

Competence becomes visible when you claim responsibility.

The Micro-Wins Log (Career Receipts in 30 Days)

Every day, write one line:

Done: ____
Impact: ____ (metric/result)
Learned: ____
Proof: ____ (feedback / example)

This becomes your performance review + interview material.
