In Conversation with Doone Roisin
Meet Doone Roisin
In the lead up to International Women’s Day, who better to feature in our In Conversation With series than Doone Roisin.
Our Director, Sue Di Chio, sat down with Doone to talk about her podcast and platform, the Female Startup Club.
About Doone Roisin
Doone is the founder of Female Startup Club, a globally recognised podcast and community for female entrepreneurs. With over 500 interviews under her belt, she’s become an inspiration for women-in-progress everywhere. Her platform empowers female founders by spotlighting the real stories, challenges, and wins behind some of the world’s most successful women.
Before creating the Female Startup Club, Doone built her career in digital marketing, working with major names like Snap Inc., IMG, and THE ICONIC. She’s also a serial entrepreneur, launching ventures such as Kincs, a direct-to-consumer jewellery brand.
Her journey is proof that you don’t need a traditional background in business or journalism to make a big impact. In just a few years, she has built a thriving global platform, been recognised as Young Australian of the Year, and continues to challenge the status quo by encouraging women to build wealth through entrepreneurship.
The Female Startup Club Story
When asked about her beginnings, Doone shared how her childhood shaped her ambitions:
“Growing up, we didn’t have a lot of money. I watched my single mum hustle to raise me, and it gave me the drive to create my own version of success — something with purpose, something that could positively impact women.”
What began as short Instagram interviews with her friends in business back in 2019 has evolved into one of the most trusted platforms for female entrepreneurs worldwide. Today, Female Startup Club shares the playbook of building 6, 7, 8 and even 9-figure businesses with a global audience.
Why It Matters
The Female Startup Club is more than just a podcast. It’s a movement built around transparency, resilience, and empowerment.
Doone explained:
“If we can show other women-in-progress that anyone can do it, and that we all start from the same place — just an idea — then we can empower women to dream big and think bigger.”
She highlights that while entrepreneurship is often glamorised, the reality requires grit, resilience, and persistence.
