Meet Connie Williams – Recruitment Consultant at Who in the Zoo
At Who in the Zoo, our people are at the heart of everything we do. Each consultant brings their own expertise, energy, and personality, and that’s what makes us unique. Today, we’d like to acquaint you with Connie Williams, who is equally cherished by our clients, candidates, and team members!
What is your role at Who in the Zoo, and what’s your background?
*“I’m a Recruitment Consultant. Originally from a small town in Somerset, UK, I moved to Sydney in 2017 for what was meant to be a gap year before heading home to attend university. But I fell in love with Sydney — and with fashion.
I was lucky to meet our current Director, Sue, early on. She hired me into her fashion business, SUBOO, where I worked across Wholesale, Social Media, and Customer Service. That’s where my passion for fashion really began.
After SUBOO, I worked with some incredible Australian brands including Viktoria & Woods, Dion Lee, and Country Road. Through those years I gained experience across multiple categories and developed a love for emerging trends and market insights.
I always knew recruitment was on the cards. Sue told me from the start that when I was ready to cross into Who in the Zoo, she’d be happy to give me that opportunity. The business soon sponsored me, and now, almost three years later, I’ve grown into my consultant role, working with brands I’ve admired for years. I can’t imagine doing anything else.”*
What would your clients and candidates say about you?
*“That I talk a lot — you can’t get me off the phone! That’s probably the British in me. But beyond that, I think they’d say I love connecting with people and building relationships, whether it’s for immediate vacancies or future opportunities.
One of the best feelings is calling a candidate I’ve stayed in touch with a year later to tell them about the perfect role. Having once had a poor experience with a recruiter myself, I’ve never forgotten it. I strive to ensure candidates always have a positive experience, because job hunting can be daunting enough.
As for clients, they know they can trust me to act as an extension of their business. I represent them in the best possible way, every time, with their growth plans front of mind.”*
Who in the Zoo are you?
*“I actually did an online quiz to find out, and the result was Elephant — which feels very fitting, especially now that I’m nine months pregnant!
Elephants have incredible memories and are magnificent animals. While huge, they’re known as calm and gentle giants, living in strong family groups. I think that reflects who I am both in life and in my role here at WITZ.”*
